persons and not of capitals. Its objective is not the sole making
of profits but the service of members and its operation is based
on universal principles and values. The
vigour of the Co-operative Movement in Cyprus is, keeping
proportions in mind, a worldwide phenomenon and is -inarguably
-the greatest social conquest of its people in the 20th century.
The Greek co-operative Savings Bank of
Pafos is a Co-operative Organisation, a true Foundation with
a human face that is the shelter and the recourse of the various
low to middle stratums of the people for solving the problems
they are facing, such as securing their housing, education,
settlement of children, vocational rehabilitation, medical
care, aid for farmers, etc.
The future plans and ambitions of the Officers
of the Greek Co-operative Savings bank of Pafos include the
social contribution toward its suffering fellow humans-members
through the creation of a multi-function centre for elder
people in a landed property that has been acquired for this
purpose.
The contribution of the Savings Bank
-toward various charitable and public purposes and in intellectual,
cultural and athletic activities of the city and of the district
in general -is well known.
